Have you ever placed an old fashioned thermometer in a cup of hot water? The mercury inside rises due to the heat, therefore giving a gauge on the temperature. The thermometer is influenced by it's environment. I would say the same thing about certain relationships in life. We're influenced by who we surround ourselves with. It's easy to ask who positively influences our lives, but it's hard to ask who negatively influences our lives. It's a very hard question to ask. But if you want to make the temperature rise, you can't do it with cold water. And sometimes, that means letting go of certain people in your life.
As I'm pursuing this business, I'm noticing the importance of surrounding myself around encouraging people. I treasure all my friendships and I love all my friends dearly, but I know there are a few that don't bring any encouragement to my life at all. In fact, they do the opposite. I'm not saying to let go of friends that are not positive, or friends that have a realistic view on life. In fact, those friends are the ones who will help you stay grounded the higher you dream. I think you know what friends I'm talking about. You want to have friends who want to help you build wings and not friends who will tie an anchor to your neck. If you feel that heaviness around certain friendships, then it's okay to let go.
You don't even have to make enemies or burn any bridges. Simply surround yourself with trustworthy people who will encourage you and speak life in your journey. But it's up to you if you want to make the temperature rise.
