Going to places like the Getty Museum in Los Angeles for inspiration can have one of two effects: (1) It can inspire you greatly, or (2) leave you so intimated by such high standards that we don’t even bother to try anything at all. I felt both yesterday. What I felt was fear.
I admit, my biggest fear is failure. I’m actually terrified of venturing this journey to start this business because I’m afraid it will fail. But you know what? That’s okay. I’m going to do it anyway. I may not know exactly what I’m doing, but from the depths of my heart I know it’s the right thing to do. To ignore such a calling on your life isn’t playing it safe. It’s downright criminal. Do not be guided by your fears! Courage is spelled F-A-I-T-H.
There are books out there that have not yet been written! There are businesses out there that have not yet been started! There are lives out there that have not yet been changed! And I, for one, defiantly refuse to let fear define the course of my life!
So what exactly am I’m going to do? I’m going to start a production company that helps non-profit organizations voice their mission through video. I’m going to start a production company that calls for an end to human trafficking through video. I’m going to start a production company that gives victims of abuse a voice to make a stand and bring awareness through video. I’m going to start a production company so that I can use my gifts as a storyteller and do my part to change the world.
Today, I'm going to write up my mission statement and formulate a business plan. It's the first step that will lay the foundation to help me move forward strategically. Any advice would be appreciated.
It’s time to saddle up and I’m leaving fear behind in the dust. There are stories that need to be told.
