I strongly believe that being studious is an essential characteristic when it comes to starting and running a business. If you remember several blog posts back (Day 8), having the heart of a student is what I call The Jack Sparrow Lesson. Not only is it important to have a studious spirit to continuously find ways to better your skills, but it's equally important to study the market your business will be in.
So how am I going to study my potential clients? I'm just going to ask. I came up with 3 strategic questions to ask non-profit organizations to figure out their needs and wants in film and photography:
- Why is your mission & vision important to share with the rest of the world?
- Where do you see your company in 5 years?
- What is holding you back from telling your story?
With these questions, I'll be able to find the struggles, needs, and wants for non-profit organizations. By studying the market and potential clients like this, I'll be able to write out an effective business plan and market strategy. That's winning.
Educating yourself should never be confined to the walls of a school. Always strive to have the heart of a student.
