Do you ever feel life gets crazy and busy the more you try to be productive? I looked at my calendar this morning and realized I'm behind on my tasks. It's four days into May and I haven't completed last month's goal, which is to write up a business plan. If you're in a similar situation, just breathe. Go outside and take a walk. Hang outWhatever it is, just find a way to clear your mind. This morning, I decided to go to the beach with my wife and dog to clear my mind. And afterwards, I knew what to do. I needed to organize my environment.
My office is cluttered up with papers, books, and other things. I read an interesting article about working in a cluttered office space and how it affects your mind. You may have a method to your madness as far as how your office space is, but we humans are easily influenced by the environment we surround ourselves in. It's similar to that blog post I wrote about when a thermometer is submerged in hot water. The temperature changes when placed in different environments, and so do we.
I'm going to stop thinking about business today. The clutter in my office reflects how cluttered my mind is. Today, I encourage you to do the same. Don't worry about finishing a task on time. Don't let stress beat you to the punch. Your sanity, heart, and well-being are far more important. Now go clean your room.
